Chocolate chip cookies are one of my very favorites, especially Toll House. In my opinion, those are just the best because I grew up with them. There are a lot of chocolate chip cookies out there, but I stand by Toll House – always have and always will! But what about gluten free chocolate chip cookies? Well, let’s talk about that…
When my daughter found a gluten free mix from Betty Crocker, I decided to give them a try, although the packaged gluten free cake and pancake mixes (not Betty Crocker brand) just suck. Really they do – but that’s another post for you to look forward to, k?
The consistency was pretty good, which was promising since most gf mixes create moon sand. It was a little crumbly, but not a deal breaker.
We baked them and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised here. They came out really good, but they were still not Toll House.
So, I went into the cabinet and pulled down a bag of chips and decided to try my hand at some gluten free Toll House cookies, and I was NOT disappointed at all.
I’ve tried some recipes and just substituted gf flour for regular, but had mixed results so I wasn’t sure about these cookies, but, well, take a look for yourself:
Now those are gluten free Toll House cookies, y’all! They came out PERFECT! Perfect, I tell ya! Nice and light, which is a plus since gf flour is very dense, and so good – just like the ones I remember!
So give it a try – make the original recipe but substitute gf flour and see how it comes out. If you make these little pieces of heaven, please come back and share your pics in the comments because I am wondering if everyone is getting the results that I am. Help a girl out and share! Please.

I haven’t tried Toll House cookies with GF flour, but definitely will. I have made these several times and everyone loves them….and I love that they give you the recipe for the flour if you don’t have it on hand. Great, now I am hungry for cookies and I am supposed to be avoiding sugar and grains. UGH! http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/gluten-free-chocolate-chip-cookies-recipe
They are really good! I am recovering from surgery, but I plan to make lots and lots of cookies and cupcakes this year! Lots! Dan has a huge sweet tooth so I’m sure he won’t mind at all!
I’ve made the original Toll House recipe with several different types of gf flour. The flours vary so much, but I finally found one I love. It’s a local brand, Andrea’s. Stopped by from the SITS Sharefest. Will explore your blog!
Welcome Pam! Does Andrea’s have a website I can cruise? I’m always interested in finding better gluten free mixtures, thanks for sharing!
